House chores

I hate.

Don't like to clean the house, sweep the floor, clean the toilet, scrub the sink, wash the dishes or wipe the tables.

Oh no! But I will have to do this the rest of my life, yes?

I guess no one really likes to do house chores.  I don't know anyone that I know who does.  If you know somebody who tells you that they enjoy cleaning, do you believe them?  Do you think they really like to do house chores?

If house chores can actually be enjoyable, why is it not classified as a hobby or an interest? We dine, ski, watch movies, golf, shop, spa, travel.......these are hobbies, yes.  These are items that you would see in a list under hobbies/activities.

But you will not see house chores - as hobbies/activities.  Hence, the name, house chores.

It's the same logic as homework.  People don't like to do homework; however, we nevertheless appreciate the importance of homework.  Homework has benefits -- so, though we don't enjoy doing it, we can appreciate it.

So like we appreciate homework, we appreciate house chores.  But that's very different than enjoying or liking it.
