Life of Pi

Chris and I saw this movie on the weekend.  And....he loved it.....I loved it, but I was also troubled by it.  I didn't sleep well that night because I kept thinking about Richard Parker, the tiger.  It's not that I have an obsession with tigers, but I just kept thinking why Pi thought of himself as the tiger.

If he was to be the king of the animal world, why not a lion?  Why devote so much of the story to the relationship between him and the tiger if they are essentially the same person?

I haven't read the book yet, but I certainly will in order to get all the details.  I remember I was interested in reading this book several years ago.  But I thought to myself, "A boy and a tiger on a boat?  For 300 something pages?  You've got to be kidding me."

So, it's interesting that I end up coming back to the book again several years later.

The movie was great, but I think the book will give me some true revelations.  Or not!
