Not here, not there, not anywhere

Not Taiwan, not Hong Kong, not Toronto, and not Shenzhen.

What hot mess have we got ourselves into by spreading the family into 4 different places?  15 hours from HK to Toronto, similar for Taiwan to Toronto, 1.5 hours from HK to Taiwan, 1 hour from HK to Shenzhen (MTR).

We are not here, not there or anywhere. We are spreading ourselves too thin.

Z: Why can't you just move to HK?  You don't want to come to HK.
C: I do, I really want to come to HK.  But it's not that simple.

Not simple because:
1) there is no guarantee that you can find a job in HK
2) the pay in HK will be lower
3) less vacation days to go back to Taiwan
4) Hence, the day you move to HK will be the day you start your own business, is that right?
That way, even if you don't make as much money as you do now in Shenzhen, at least you get the flexbility to go back home.  Is that the logic?

The dilemma, as I have always said, is that whenever you try to make everyone happy, no one ends up being so.  Someone must sacrifice, give up something, anything.  I rarely believe that there are win-win situations.  They end up being 'win-win' situations because someone has come to terms with whatever they need to give up for the benefit of everyone else.

So, it's really not that simple.
