You ask me to marry you. It's not that simple.
Sure, in movies and even stories from your gal pals, it's always this amazing, romantic, touching story of how he got down on one knee and proposed. How there was a romantic dinner that followed, how there were hundreds and hundreds of congratulations, how everyone was just so excited about the good news.
Sure, I've heard and seen all that too.
But as luck / fate would have it, the story is not so simple for me. As obvious as this sounds, saying the "I do" is not just saying "Yes, I will marry you and we will go through a wonderful ceremony filled with flowers and candles." "Yes, I will have your baby and we will have a wonderful time together."
No, saying "I do" also means I take on additional roles as your wife, your life partner, your back-up business partner, your janitor, your bail-out, your 1-800 line, your cook, your stylist, your note-taker, your jail mate?!?!
So, that simple "I do" is not just an "I do". Those two little words come with a lot of strings attached. A big commitment and no looking back.
And with Chris, it's like investing in a high risk stock - yes, he's that kind, not the stable, 9-5 kind. You could win big or you could end up in jail...well, at least bankruptcy.
