2 guys, 2 gals, and 1 anomaly

I went out to dinner with some acquaintances yesterday night and there were 2 guys, 2 girls, and 1 anomaly.  Yes, I was the anomaly.

Guy 1: 30 something, married, wife is expecting, has 2 cats
Guy 2: 30 something, single, 2 jobs, probably doing quite well financially
Girl 1: 30 something, busy planning her wedding in March, happy
Girl 2: youngest in the bunch, single, looking for a guy
Me: ....well, I'll explain myself in the paragraphs below.

Our conversation revolved around the following topics:
- insurance
- housing market
- terrible bosses
- more housing market
- more about insurance

What? What?

Yes, I care about these things too, but that's their whole life.  They work, they buy houses, they get married, they "live".

When they ask me what I'm doing, whether I'm planning to buy a house, how are my bosses, I was pretty much...well, I suppose I wasn't very entertaining.

They probably think I live in another world.  I don't need to work 9 to 5.  I don't really have a boss.  I don't go to office if I don't want to.  I have great flexibility.

They take vacations for 5 days.  I take vacations for 6 months.
They pay attention to the housing market.  I pay attention to well....other things.

At the end of the night, I told Chris that I feel like an alien.
He said, "I told you so.  We are doing things that are very different."

Great!
